GPT Image 2.0 — officially released as gpt-image-1 by OpenAI in April 2025 — is the image generation model powering ChatGPT's native image output. It succeeds DALL-E 3 and is the first OpenAI model to natively support text rendering, multi-image composition, and real-time inpainting via API.
